Introduction to sewing

INTRODUCTION TO SEWING

Saturdays - 10.30am- 2.30pm / 2.30pm  - 6pm 
Duration: 1 Day - 3.5 hr 

Level: Anyone who can use a machine but not so confident in sewing
Duration: 1 day  - 3.5hr 
Materials and tools: All included/ you can choose to bring your own fabric, must be at least 2.5 meters.
Course content learning will cover:
  • All the content in introduction in how to use a sewing machine
  • How to insert a Zip, use different foots
  • Learn how to sew different Pockets 
  • Learn how to sew different seams, open and closed 
  • Learn different stitches 
  • Learn how to stitch a garment from start to finish, following notches for correct fit (garment of your own choice).
  • Learn to follow a work order instruction of finished garment 
On Completion:
  • You will have understood the importance of the contents through personal demonstration for machine use sewing and importance of pressing.
  • You will have completed the Zip, pocket, seam and stitch exercises
  • You will have completed stitched a finished garment with finishes.
  • Take away handouts of information to continue to practice at home
  • Receive feedback sheet of strengths and room for improvement for further learning
  • Receive SIIL certificate of completion
